Job Tracker

Privacy policy

Last updated 12 October 2026

Job Tracker is a personal, owner-operated job discovery and application-tracking tool. These public pages explain its Gmail connection; they do not expose the private dashboard or mailbox.

Gmail access and purpose

The tracker requests Google's gmail.readonly permission. This permission technically permits reading the entire mailbox; Google does not limit it to one label. In normal operation, the tracker searches the configured job-alert label and senders, currently LinkedIn and Welcome to the Jungle, and reads matching messages to extract vacancies. It does not send, modify, or delete email.

Information stored

The tracker stores extracted job details such as title, employer, location, job link, and an approximate date based on the alert email, plus matching and application-tracking data, in a private database. Some job links may contain tracking parameters from the original alert. It does not store the full email body in that database. Operational logs can contain message identifiers or error details, but not intentionally saved email bodies.

OAuth credentials and tokens are held in non-public files on the owner-managed computer or server and are excluded from the source repository. This is file-based storage, not a claim of encryption. A separate read-only Google Sheets integration can read application status and notes for matching and tracking; the tracker does not write to that sheet.

Use and sharing

Gmail-derived information is used for job discovery, matching, duplicate detection, and application tracking. It is not sold or used for advertising. When Telegram job notifications are enabled, selected job details and links may be sent to the owner through Telegram. Following a job link takes you to the original job site, which may have its own tracking and privacy practices.

Retention and control

Unapplied, unshortlisted listings that are confirmed closed or no longer seen are removed through scheduled cleanup; listings not seen for 25 days are eligible for deletion. Applied and shortlisted records are retained as application history, including when a listing closes. Revoking Gmail access stops future reads but does not automatically remove already extracted job records.

You can revoke Job Tracker's Gmail access in your Google Account connections. To ask about or request deletion of stored information, email pranavakailashsp@gmail.com.

These public pages

The portfolio site uses Vercel Analytics and Speed Insights for website usage and performance measurement. Those tools are separate from the tracker's Gmail connection; this site does not display Gmail content.
